With a range of drinks and craft beer, the lagom is strictly for the spirited. By Jigyasu Joshi
lagom, a Swedish word that translates into a right amount of everything, offers a mesh of cuisines from round the globe. Indian, European, Oriental and Italian to name a few. We decided to go for a dinner at the restaurant cum pub. With good interiors and music, the tables are adequately arranged in the way that you don’t get the feeling of your neighbour breathing down your neck. Also, the microbrewery is something that catches your eye as soon as you enter.
With a vast variety of alcohols and drinks, the lagom offers freshly in-house brewed beer. They serve three varieties of freshly-brewed craft beer, the Belgian Wheat Beer, lager and the Dark Knight (Dark Beer). We chose The Belgian Wheat beer, which is served with an orange garnish, the citrus taste surprisingly liked by even the most seasoned and attuned drinker.
Moving on to the starters, the Indian vegetarian starter dahi kebab did steal the show with cashew nut pieces plonked in between. And no, we were not so drunk to dull our tastebuds. Otherwise, how could we make out that the spinach and corn starter was blandIJ While the Surkh Murg, chicken cubes with bullet chillies, garlic and ginger, had complementary heat and kick, the fishtikkas were tad too lemony. And amid the smorgasbord of flavours and a world platter, we wondered why they had kept the formulaic paneer tikka sandwich as their quick biteIJ
Starting with the main course then, from the Indian cuisine we ordered a Kashmiri Rogan Josh and from the oriental we chose Ji Er Hujiao, chicken with bell peppers and bell pepper sauce. Needless to say, while the Indian dish made the grade, the bell pepper chicken did not. Was it chilli chicken or notIJ
For the dessert, we ordered a Choco-rum Mousse and Rich Chocolate brownie, safe choices really because we are bound to love anything gooey and runny. The Rich Chocolate brownie, served with vanilla ice cream scoop and chocolate sauce, however, had nothing exclusive about it. The staff was amiable but the service was slow.
The verdictIJ Great beers, munch-along food and average service.
