Chef Rohit Tokhi tells us about ten foods that can boost metabolism
Every day I come across people who complain about their inability to lose weight. When I ask them about their eating habits, they simply say that they hardly eat. This is one of the biggest misconceptions a lot of people are living with these days — starving themselves.
There is no pride in saying that we haven’t eaten for eight hours. Our metabolic rate plays a big role in how quickly we lose weight. Eating at regular intervals increases the metabolic rate. The faster your metabolism, the more calories you burn, no matter how much you are grinding at the gym or relaxing on the couch.
Here are 10 metabolism boosting foods that will make you lose weight faster:
Eggs: The amino acids in eggs are converted into muscle more efficiently than any other protein fuelled food or drink. Recent research shows that eating eggs has little, if any, effect on blood cholesterol levels.
Berries: Raspberry and strawberry contain anthocyanin, stop individual fat cells from getting larger, while also encouraging them to release adiponectin, a hormone that helps reduce inflammation, lower blood sugar and reverse leptin and insulin resistance. Always purchase organic berries and rinse them well before eating.
Tuna: With high protein and low fat, tuna is a real six-pack food. Tuna offers a variety of essential nutrients, including niacin, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12, phosphorus and selenium.
Cucumber: They’re packed with water, they keep the body hydrated plus they have plenty of vitamins, nutrients and fiber, all with very low calorie levels.
Fruits: Natural sugars you get from a piece of fruit are obviously better for you than the empty calories in refined sweets. You don’t have to get exotic in order to find fruits that will boost your metabolism. Apples contain non-digestible compounds that promote the growth of good bacteria.
Green tea: Green tea has plenty of health benefits and shows up as a superfood on many healthy lists. Green tea is also a powerful fat burner loaded with beneficial antioxidants.
lean meat: Including meat in your diet is a great way to get a sufficient amount of high-quality protein. One does not need to give up meat just because they are trying to lose weight. lean meats contain less total fat and lower amounts of saturated fats.
Oatmeal: Having a decent breakfast ensures that you have enough energy to sustain you through the day. Unlike other breakfast options oatmeal has plenty more fiber. Other benefit of oatmeal is reduction in cholesterol level.
Water: Water also flushes out impurities, improving your skin, energy levels and brain function. You should drink at least six glasses a day and always rehydrate after a strenuous workout. Your metabolism won’t be at its best when your body is yearning for hydration.
Beans: Beans have a very positive effect on your metabolism. They are often suggested for those wanting to lose weight because their nutrient makeup. Here are some simple tips that will help your increase your metabolism rate:
