Salim-Sulaiman has added dhol beats and Hindi lyrics to the international remix of Enrique's I'm a freak. The composers chatted with Karan Bhardwaj

Don’t be surprised if you hear some Hindi lyrics and dhol beats in Enrique Iglesias’ latest song I’m a freak. Music composers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant have collaborated with the Spanish singer to do a sort of ‘remake’ for the English song. The track is a worldwide release. “Universal approached us and asked if we would like to work with Enrique. They offered us a global remix for the song. Since we had heard and liked the track, we immediately agreed,” informed Salim. “I liked the craziness in the song but wanted to give a different take. So we tried to create a parallel melody. It’s an interesting collaboration. I like the way Enrique processed his voice, so it was a challenge to work on it,” he added. Salim has also lent his voice to the remix and added Hindi lyrics.

“Since they gave us the liberty to play with the track, we added a few Hindi words and I also gave my voice. It’s now Girl I Wanna Party Tere Saath. Now the track has a different feel altogether,” said Salim, who has sung both in English and Hindi. The video is likely to be shot but there’s no confirmation on the same. On Enrique’s feedback on the track, Salim told us, “He was touring when we created this version. I am told he heard it over email and liked it. However, we didn’t have direct communication with him. It happens mostly. We don’t get immediate feedback.” The music duo has also composed for Jeffrey D Brown’s Sold. “It has two tracks — Mundiya and Namaste.
