The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in association with The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), is preparing the next Master Plan of Delhi-2041 (MPD-2041). As part of the process, a series of discussions and consultations have been carried out with various stakeholders and civil society groups to seek inputs from the people of Delhi that will help drive the agenda for the Master Plan.
To get insights from the youth, a series of Youth Sabhas are being organised. The objective of these meetings is to understand issues faced by the youth (aged between 15-30 years) in the city and discuss possible planning solutions.
The first Youth Sabha on September 24 turned out to be a success. And the second series, on ‘safe and equitable access to public spaces’ was held yesterday. The discussion aimed to understand the changing needs of recreational facilities, the challenges in terms of accessibility and adequacy of such infrastructure from young citizens of different socio-economic constructs, including the larger public realm and what can be done to make the city safe for all. The design module also got feedback from all the participants. The Sabha was anchored by youth representatives from the CSOs — DDA, NIUA and PRIA and IGSSS.
There were a total of 900 registrations for the youth sabha. The detailed schedule of the further sessions are available on DDA website and official twitter handles @official_DDA, @NIUA_India. Use the hashtag, #YouthforDelhi2041 to know more!
