“The conclave is a unique artistic event representing the important schools of Indian tribal art, alongside other art genres. I wish them grand success in their creative endeavours,” said Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (I/C) for Culture and Tourism while inaugurating the National Tribal and North East Conclave-2017. The conclave was organised by lalit Kala Akademi under Ministry of Culture. Sharma also applauded the creativity of the tribal communities, as also of the artists from the North East region and select contemporary artists.
The conclave platform features more than a dozen forms of tribal art. Most of these artists, from 100 and more artist contingents, have showcased their art forms at many distinguished platforms around the world. Some of the noteworthy forms on schedule are Cheriyal painters from Telangana, southern miniature paintings, Patachitra art from Odisha, fresco paintings from Rajasthan, as also Bhil, Mina works, and paintings on leather by artists from Andhra Pradesh.
As part of its ongoing effort to discover, nurture, promote and propagate quality art in India, the Akademi has organised this seven days conclave from March 28, till April 4.
