Aditi Rao Hyadri will be seen in a bold avatar in her forthcoming film Boss. She told Iknoor Kaur that she does things instinctively, but only works with directors who are grounded
Talkative, full of energy, ambitious and strong — Aditi Rao Hyadri is everything opposite to what she looks like. The 26-year-old actress looks innocent, but has a perceptive nature and lives life king-size. She feels that it is important to do that. “How can one ever be complacentIJ You need to constantly evolve and do things. That’s when you last as a performer. There is so much more to do. We need to live life to the fullest,” she quipped.
After her bold avatar in Murder 3, Aditi will soon be seen on screen, romancing Akshay Kumar and shedding her innocent image with her much talked-about bikini look in forthcoming film Boss. She describes the film as a big scale mad, masala film with everything in it.
She explained, “I bring the fresh element to the film. I am this girl who because of her situation gets involved in the main plot. I make the plot lighter and add some romance and fun.”
She said this was not a very challenging role. “Murder 3 was challenging because for the first time they had turned the Murder franchise into a female oriented plot. But with Boss, it was different. The plot is entirely male-dominated. Being a girl in the middle of men, means that I get pampered.”
Through the shoot, she felt that Akshay Kumar helped create a comfortable atmosphere. “Akshay was the best and most comfortable person to work with. He is so disciplined and hard working, but at the same time he is lot of fun. There was always a joke, a prank or something crazy happening on sets,” she shared.
Aditi through all her films, right from Delhi6, Rockstar, Yeh Saali Zindagi to Murder 3 and Boss has beaten the stereotype. However, she says that was not intentional. “I don’t do it on purpose because I believe you can’t go out to prove a point. I think it is more important to have fun with one thing you are doing. It is the novelty of doing something fresh. My aim is that with every film I go a step higher. So I’ve gone about it instinctively,” she added.
At an early stage in her career, Aditi has already worked with directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Imtiaz Ali, Sudhir Mishra and Vishesh Bhatt. She said that working with a good director is her mantra. “I want to work with good directors. A film is their story and vision and as an actor I breathe life into that vision. A lot of people say that I have an innocent face, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be extrovert, blunt and strong. It is how you play with your core personality and a director is the only one who can make you do that,” she expressed.
Formerly a Bharatanatyam dancer, Aditi feels that a director needs to be as rooted as she is. She elaborated, “I want them to be rooted and make films pertinent to our sub-continent. I’ve been brought up as a cosmopolitan but I am very rooted. Even the directors I admire are ones who are rooted in some way. That makes both of us happy to work with each other.”
Aditi didn’t reveal much about her forthcoming projects, but reassured her commitment to cinema. She said, “My soul is of a singer and dancer, but I find expression with acting. I find it magical and it is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a child. I do have a lot of other interests as well, but this is a perfect profession for me.”
