Designer duo Falguni and Shane has been honoured at the House of lords in london. They are the only Mumbai designers to showcase at the forthcoming Bridal Fashion Week here
In the list of designers participating at India Bridal Fashion Week in Delhi, designer duo Falguni and Shane stand out for couple of reasons. One, they are the only designers from Mumbai taking part in the debut bridal week, second, they are just honoured with Pride of India for Year 2013 award at the House of lords in london. They were already off to london when we got in touch with them.
“It is a great feeling to see our label achieving global success. What truly makes us smile though is that our hardwork is being appreciated. People perceive the fashion industry to be one of only glitz and glamour, but there is a lot of stress and sleepless nights that make one successful,” said Falguni. According to her, the award reiterates their position in the global fashion arena, as not just Indian, but international designers.
We don’t doubt it since their creations have been donned by the likes of Rihanna, Jennifer lopez, Fergie, lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Cheryl Cole, Kesha, Nicole Scherzinger, Paris Hilton and others from Hollywood. In India, they have dressed Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra to name a few.
The designers would showcase Garden of Eden on July 25. “Delhi fashion sensibilities are different from Mumbai, so it feels good to present something new for our Delhi clientele. We have been showcasing at a number of international fashion weeks over the last few years, so it’s good to be back in Delhi. We love the city and have plans to open our second store soon,” shared Falguni.
The collection is inspired from the various places designers visited during their Europe trip. It includes the beautiful lake of Como, colours of Madrid and Monaco.
“We have replicated the beauty and movement of nature in a contemporary form in this collection. It’s vintage. There are floral and classy lehengas with the blend of vintage lacework, designed with net fabric and embellishments,” she added.
