Sonakshi Sinha has been roped in to be the face of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week. Maybe this stint would help her step up her trend game
Be it that sassy look with cropped hair and funky streaks or that ultra-chic appearance in a gown and unkempt locks, there have been some serious attempts to look drop dead gorgeous by Sonakshi Sinha. Seems the actress is in dire need to shed off that plain Jane image that has stuck with her ever since her first release. So she first got rid of the flab that she mostly tried to camouflage and now we see her doing all that is possible to look like another diva on the red carpet. The actress is often seen experimenting with her looks on the red carpet and her association with fashion events is more than ever. After sashaying on ramp quite a number of times, she is now talking about some serious fashion.
Sonakshi was here for the launch of the seventh edition of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week. As its brand ambassador, she took to task like a dedicated trooper (or if simply put then way too literally) delicately marching up the ramp in a silver embroidered fuchsia lehenga by Suneet Varma. She also disclosed that she would want a tall groom for herself. And Sonakshi desires to be a “runaway bride” but only on a luxurious set of wheels.
Before stepping in front of the camera, Sonakshi worked as a costume designer but she plans on staying away from giving any creative inputs to the fashion week’s designers. “All of them are so experienced already and have been around for so many years. They’ve been on the top of their game so I don’t think I should be giving them any inputs. I used to see most of these designers showcase their collections while I helped them out during fashion weeks and would hope to wear their clothes one day and look what happened,” she said.
Awed by the preview of the participating designers’ creations at the launch, Sonakshi predicted that it will be another successful and a great year for all of them. “They have some brilliant creations. When it comes to Indian bridal fashion, they always have something new, different and innovative going on in all their collections. This will be another great year.” Over the years, the tinseltown folks might have caught the bug of launching their own clothing line or collaborating with big brands but not the fashion-graduate Sonakshi. She believes “no education goes to waste” and is sure that at some point later in her life she would have a go at it.
The recent announcement of Sonakshi taking the stage as a singer at IIFA in Kuala lumpur next month must have taken many by surprise but it disappointed her. “I was hoping that my singing would be a surprise but I guess everyone got to know about it. I’ve always had this rockstar dream where I’m singing at a concert so this will be as close to it as possible. In a way it is a dream coming true. I’m super excited.”
