Do not miss out on the traditional fare if you are planning your FIFA tour

In case you are lucky to catch the action live in Brazil, make most of your FIFA trip. Here is a list of food items you must try if you’re going to Brazil:

Empadinha de Frango(chicken pies): It is usually a cupcake sized pastry with mouthwatering filling. You are offered different choice of fillings like frango (chicken), palmita (hearts of palm) and queijo (cheese) to choose from. They can easily be found in bakery shops or coffee houses. A brilliant accompaniment to a strong cup of coffee in the evening, one Empadinha will only crave for more.

Pao de Queijo:These are cheese buns or cheese bread and after you eat one you wouldn’t want to eat bread anymore. These are small baked, cheese flavoured rolls and a common breakfast food in Brazil. They are crispy outside but simply soft and chewy inside. Made up of milk, vegetable oil, parmesan cheese and cassava flour, they are real easy to make at home even if you find yourself addicted to one!

Acarajé:A common Brazilian street food item, it is made from black-eyed peas formed into a ball and then deep fried in palm oil. It is seasoned with ground dried shrimp and onions and shaped into fritters. One of the most iconic traditional Brazilian food, Acaraje are available on street corners as well at restaurants.

Moqueca de peixe:This dish is also known as the Brazilian fish stew. If you enjoy eating little sweeter and milder Indian curries you will certainly love this Brazilian fish curry. The dish is basically a mixture of fish, onions, garlic, tomatoes, coconut milk and special herbs like cilantro. It is slowly cooked in a terra cotta casserole and optionally served with prawns. The dish is available in restaurants and can be had with rice.

Brigadeiro:It is a Brazilian chocolate bonbon and the shapes often resemble chocolate truffle. This dish is simple to make using sweetened condensed milk and cocoa powder (or any special powdered chocolate). Above everything else, the dish can become your all time favorites in Brazil. Covered with chocolate sprinkles, with a hint of butter essence, it will melt in your mouth. While trying to make one in your home you can easily make alterations by adding different chocolate flavours. Brigadeiro is common in Brazilian birthday parties and marriage functions.
