Suneel Darshan’s son Shiv Darshan will make his debut with an ‘edgy entertainer’. He chats with D Kaushik
Not many are lucky to choose the kind of film they want to debut with in Bollywood, but Shiv Darshan surely is. After getting his training from various acting schools in Mumbai and New York Film Academy, when Shiv expressed his desire to make his debut, his father, Suneel Darshan, asked him what kind of film he would want to work in. “I thought I will be perfect for an entertainer so he worked out a film accordingly. Karle Pyaar Karle is an action-packed, edgy love story of two rebels, Kabir and Preet, playing the game of life,” informed Shiv, who says he always wanted to be a part of Bollywood “but was not sure in what capacity.” Working behind the camera never fascinated him. “I have seen my father and others in the family working as producers and directors and I know it is not an easy task. You need to have knowledge to be the director or producer,” he said.
He got interested in acting after an interesting incident. “My father was shooting for the film Talaash: The Hunt Begins, featuring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. Unfortunately Akshay Kumar fell ill and my father called me up saying I was required on the sets. He wanted me to take his place for one shot. I loved that experience and I knew what I wanted to do,” he shared. From then on he worked to brush his acting skills to make his debut. Having a known second name helps in the industry, he says. “But it has a disadvantage also. People tend to believe that whatever you are getting is not because of your hard work, but because of your name, that’s not true,” he said.
