Chatting with strangers, good food and music are all Jishnu Dasgupta of Swaratma needs to make his weekend perfect. He gives Iknoor Kaur an update on his life and launch of a single’s remix version Two back-to-back shows in different cities make my weekends.
In February we drove all the way to Coorg, performed, then drove again to Nashik for another gig.
It was the best thing to do, to get past those three days.
I love meeting new people, eating good food and driving through different cities.
As a band we have collectively invested in a rehearsal studio, where we take out time during the week and over the weekend, then jam from 8:30 am-1 pm.
The jamming is a flow of our ideas and melodies which formulate into something eventually.
All our songs have been a result of that.We are currently on a tour to launching a remix of the song, Naane Daari.
This is in collaboration with Sahej Bakshi from Dualist Enquiry. I think our equations with each other are extremely important, vis-a-vis what we deliver. It was that and our chemistry which resulted in this beautiful remix.
Even though two different genres collaborate through this song, I believe that music cannot be differentiated through various genres. It can be melodious, even if barriers are broken.
In fact it gets better. This song celebrates the youth and promotes a positive approach to life. When we originally started conceptualising its musical composition, Varun came up with a completely different approach. This changed when we all jammed together and ended up with an absolutely disco tune. I think this is what made the song so good.
As a band we work collaboratively on everything. Be it music, lyrics. Even if one person is writing a song, the ideas flow from all of us. We are like a family that delivers its final product, cooperatively.
Our plans as of now, consists this tour. We have been using this remix in our performances for the last five to six months. However this is the first time that we are launching a complete version.
Our first event is in Pune. We are excited about this. After which we’ll be coming to Hard Rock in Delhi on June 13. We believe in letting you enjoy our track for free, so it will be available for download on the Dualism record label webpage too.
