Karan Kundra now features in MTV He Ticket, the show that is all about discovering bizarre destinations in India. He shares details with D Kaushik
On other occasions when he has been in Delhi, we have caught up with him at swanky coffee shops of five star hotels but here he was bearing the soaring sun at Feroz Shah Kotla fort. The ruins which are thronged by hundreds of visitors every Thursday with letters for djinns will now be featured in MTV’s He Ticket.
The host of the show Karan Kundra was here to shoot the same and was surprised to discover this side of Delhi. “like most people I only know Feroz Shah Kotla as a stadium. I didn’t know that the place is also popular for djinns or holy spirits who grant wishes,” the actor who judged the last season of MTV Roadies told us.
He Ticket is a 13-week reality show that will take contestants on an exhilarating and one-of-a-kind adventure across India. It's all about discovering parts of India that are popular with bizarre and weird stories. Karan will travel with three contestants to some parts of India and perform some interesting tasks at these places.
“Since this is all about experiencing the thrill, even I am not told much about the places where we will have to travel in advance. So far we have shot at Jodhpur at a temple that is famous as Bullet Baba ka mandir. It is said that a person called Om Banna lost his life in an accident. He was driving his Royal Enfield when he lost control of it and met with an accident.
The morning after the accident, local police took his motorcycle to a nearby police station. The next day it was reported to have disappeared from the station and was found back at the site of the accident. So now a temple is built at this site and it is said that Om Banna’s spirit helps the distressed travellers. So all these place that we will be visiting in the show have interesting stories to share.
This show is a lot of fun and for an avid traveller like me, this is just ideal,” said the actor, who has always loved travelling to lesser-known destinations. “I have been living life out of suitcase since last few months. I was in Hong Kong and when I returned here, I travelled to places like Ayodhya and Varanasi to know more about the history. When this show came, I just wanted to be a part of it,” said Karan, who also visited a “paranthe walla” in Chandni Chowk.
Karan became a part of the small screen through a daily soap Kitani Mohabbat Hai but eventually moved on to do shows like Gumrah, Fanaah and MTV Roadies. He says he would rather try new concepts than being part of shows that stretch the storylines for years. “At the beginning of my career I was told that it is always better to leave things when they are at peak, rather than leaving them at a point when they are just being stretched. I have followed that throughout. I like stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging myself on new grounds. I don’t allow myself to overstay with one thing,” he said.
