Kristen Bell talked about her upcoming movie

Tell us something about your character KikiIJ

Kiki is just not cool, and that’s one of the reasons the PTA moms judge her so harshly. She just can’t be bothered. Her cardigan sweatshirt, buttoned up with embroideryIJ I don’t hate it. It’s grown on me.

What part of the movie moved youIJ

Really early on in motherhood, you forget that you’re a girl and you need girlfriends, a real life mother of two. Part of the beauty of this film is that it’s about these mothers discovering friendships again.

Tell us your favourite scene from the movieIJ

Much like teenagers, we go to her house and pull things from her closet, almost none of it wearable. But we manage to primp her up and finally get her to take off her mom bra, which is a gross nude nursing bra.

You are a mother of two wonderful kids. How is it to be a momIJ

Every day is something comical. Every day when you’re raising kids, you feel like you could cry or crack up and just scream ‘This is ridiculous!’ because there’s so much nonsense, whether it’s what they’re saying to you or the fact that there’s avocado or poop on every surface. If you walk out of your house worried that people will judge you, you will feel judged. You are setting an expectation that will be inevitable. But there are so many moms and so many people out there who are done with that game of picking sides and having stereotypes and feeling like we're at war with each other. I choose not to label myself under any circumstance. I'm not a good mom; I’m not a bad mom. I'm the mom I am and I try very hard, and when I fail, that’s OK.

Since you started working on the movie have you found that when you tell friends about the project that they start sharing their bad moms storiesIJ

But this movie blankets the whole topic of motherhood in a way - the message is, there are endless ways to do it, and however your gut is telling you to do it, that’s what’s right. It is a unifying message that we all feel less than, we all feel frazzled, we all feel overworked and terrified we’re messing up our humans. But that's the beauty of this entire movie is it’s unifying. It’s like moms in solidarity.

Is it true that you’re wearing a necklace that your daughter made you as a characterIJ

I am. She made it over Thanksgiving, I wear it a lot. And I wore it into a fitting and it just seemed perfect with every outfit, so we made a bunch more.
