Netflix and Amazon Prime Video will be bringing more Indian and international content in August for binge watchers

After the success of the first Netflix India original Sacred Games, the California-based company said that it has tied up with the team of Baahubali to produce two seasons of a series based on the universe. The Rise of Sivagami, a prequel novel to the 2015 film, will be adapted to make Baahubali: Before the Beginning, which will be a prequel to the two films, Baahubali: the Beginning and Baahubali: the Conclusion.

The show will have two seasons. Netflix has tied up with Arka Media Works and SS Rajamouli and Deva Katta and Praveen Sataru will direct the series. It will be about Sivagami’s journey from being a young girl to queen.

“This (prequel) series captures Queen Sivagami’s journey from a rebellious and vengeful girl to a wise and unequalled queen. Power, politics and intrigue find themselves juxtaposed against the rise of Mahishmati — from being a city-state to an empire. This is the rich backdrop and drama where the Baahubali franchise is set.

The series promises to build on the incredible narrative style of the franchise — including its high production values, spectacular visuals and connective-epic story-telling,” Netflix said.
