Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma made an official announcement for their forthcoming film, Sui Dhaaga. By Team Viva
looks like the runaway success of Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, which has worked with the audience despite being a social messaging film on Swachh Bharat Mission, has inspired filmmakers to take up far-reaching and impactful government schemes as their core subject.
Big banner, Yash Raj Films has now taken up the Make in India campaign as the spine of its Varun Dhawan- Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga – Made In India. The two young stars are set to pair up for the first time. Riding high on the success of Judwaa 2, Varun is hoping his mainstream acceptability will replicate a Toilet-Ek Prem Katha-style hit. Pivoting a plot is the Gandhian spindle and our hand-spun heritage of khadi.
Yesterday, a year before the scheduled release, Yash Raj Films along with Varun and Anushka released the first teaser. The actors revealed more about their first collaboration on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and dedicated the film to the Mahatma.
One can see Varun and Anushka give a salute to Mahatma Gandhi and all the workers associated with the Make In India initiative. The strong and powerful dialogue delivery and their twinning have created enough buzz.
The fraternity applauded their initiative and Akshay Kumar tweeted back, “Sui Dhaaga, totally piqued my curiosity! Wishing you all the luck @Varun_dvn @AnushkaSharma for this #MadeInIndia film.” Anupam Kher too showed his enthusiasm and wrote, “loved this initiative and the thought behind it. Great that @Varun_dvn and @AnushkaSharma are supporting it.”
An official announcement was made a few months back, with the makers confirming that the film would be based on the ideology of Make in India put forward in an entertaining and relevant manner. The date of release was also confirmed – October 2, 2018. But little did we know what was to follow.
In a press release handed out earlier th is year, Varun had revealed, “From Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi) to Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi), our country’s leaders have always endorsed the ideology of Made in India. With our film, I am proud to take their message to millions of people in a relevant manner.”
Anushka had further added, “It’s a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect with every Indian. And am really looking forward to working with Varun Dhawan and the team of Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya.”
