Hawa Badlo, a people’s initiative, in assocaition with GAIl(India),  has introduced a simple platform - a Facebook Messenger BOT  to create awareness on pollution.

The aim is to strengthen the awareness for improving the air quality and to fight to reduce air pollution which is supported by GAIl (India) limited. Hawa Badlo team has been actively working towards educating the masses with alerting statistics against air pollution through short films like Time Bomb and Air Seller. A number of awareness drives have been carried out in schools as a part of the initiative. The BOT has been integrated to spread awareness about the dangerous levels of particulate matter across different cities in India.

For measuring the air quality levels one can follow these steps:  Open Messenger app, search for “Hawa Badlo”, open the conversation Tab and type AQI and send your location when asked to avail demographic specific AQI.

GAIl (India) limited has integrated a location based nearby CNG retail outlet finder for this.  Indranil Das, GAIl spokesperson said, “If five per cent of people start using BoT, get motivated towards use of green fuel, it would create a micro impact in the society. Greener fuel like natural gas can help in curbing the problem of pollution. It is a viable option which emits zero particulate matters compared to other fuels which are being used in most of the vehicles, power plants and industries.”
