Morgan Page’s recent album gave him a chance to debut in India. He told I Kaur that thanks to social media, our music circuit is evolving
Of late, there has been an explosion in the music scene in India. That’s perhaps the reason why major and even emerging international artistes have been staging successful concerts here. The latest one to join the brigade was America-based DJ Morgan Page, who was on a multi-city tour in India to promote his new album In The Air. “I had heard so much about the country, the people, and the music scene here. I had wanted to play in India for the longest time. The fans of the music are very passionate and that tells me there is a lot of potential here for all kinds of music,” he said. The Progressive musician performed in Mumbai, followed by Delhi and Bengaluru.
The artiste’s early interests were graphic designing and technology, which inspired him to experiment with his work. He elaborated, “My goal is to surprise people by taking familiar songs and presenting them in new ways. If I’m doing my set right, you’ll have no idea what I’m going to play next. It’s a balance of playing my music, other big tracks, along with inspiring (and often overlooked) music that people might not discover on their own.” Page also runs a weekly radio show called In The Air which is syndicated across 30 countries worldwide. He said, “I would love to learn more about India’s local talent as I’m always looking for new talent and music for the show.”
He hopes to be back in India soon for the same. “There is so much potential in India, it’s amazing. There is no doubt that it will become a global hub. I believe social media technologies played a big role in helping dance music prosper in the US, and I see the same thing happening here.”
Page’s new single is Your love which features the 80s band, The Outfield. At present he has a few things in pipeline. “I will come out with a couple of other singles as well as a mix compilation called, Morgan Page Presents, that will be a companion piece to my tour. I am known for my vocals and am really concentrating on quality songwriting with substance. Melodies are important,” he said.
