The present thesis is a path-breaking study in many ways. Firstly, the topic of the thesis Badmer ke Registhani Bhilon ka Etihaasik Adhyayan is a new area for research tribal studies have been of interest to sociologists and anthropologists but have remained neglected in historical research. Moreover, there have been numerous studies on tribals and also on Bhils of other regions but this forms the first attempt at studying the Bhils  belonging to the desert regions of Badmer. The researcher has painstakingly brought out the latent details of the distinctive sociocultural conditions of the Bhils of the region. The findings also underscore the different and distinct nature of the origin myths, political role, social institutions, polity, administrative system and cultural practices of the Bhils of Barmer. Significantly, the work also traces their conditions in the post independent period, especially the liberating and egalitarian impact of the democratic regime on social norms and economic conditions as opposed to the authoritarian and hierarchal feudal regime of the erstwhile native state.
