A cash locker in your home should never be placed under a focus light and plant big trees in the south-west direction of your plot to stabilise finances. Jai Madaan shares some Vastu secrets
We keep our belongings and jewellery stored in a cash locker or a cupboard locker at home. According to Vastu, it is important to place this locker closer to the south-west or the south wall in the room so that it opens towards the north direction. This is because lord Kuber resides in the north direction and it is believed that if the locker opens in north, the lord will refill it over and over again.
A cash locker should never be placed under a focus light or beam. This indicates financial stress on the family or family business.
Place a mirror in front of your cash locker so that the image of the locker gets reflected in the mirror. This is symbolic of doubling of wealth.
The staircase should never be made in the north-east direction. This portion should always be clear of clutter and open as it helps to attract wealth towards an individual. No machinery should be kept in this direction.
A swimming pool or any water body should never be made lower than the ground level in the south-west corner. This is applicable to one’s office, home or even an apartment building.
It is best to avoid purchasing a plot of land that has high-rise buildings or temples in front of the north-east side of your land. This leads to loss of wealth. Also, if this is unavoidable then one need to make sure that these structures are not casting a shadow on your plot of land.
Curved walls should be avoided in the north-east corner of your boundary wall. They should always be in right angles.
When making the roof, it is better to keep the north-east portion of the roof lower than the south-west portion. In short, the roof must slope south-west down to north-east.
The south and west side walls of the house and the boundary walls on this side should be higher as well as thicker than those of the east and north side.
When buying the plot to build your home or office, you need to ensure that the land has the same elevation or is higher than the adjacent roads. No point in purchasing a piece of plot that is lower than the road.
To stabilise finances, Vastu experts suggest that planting big trees in the south-west side of the plot will do a lot of good. Doing so also helps to avoid any mishap or unfortunate events in family and business.
Planting trees in the north-east side will have the exact opposite effect, that is it will obstruct the flow of finances.
The centre portion of the house should not have anything. It should be free of clutter or one can build a temple there as this is known as the Brahmasthan area in the house.
The west portion or the south-west portion of the house is good for a store room.
Doors and windows should always be clean. If not, then they will obstruct the flow of wealth into the house.
A leaking tap or faucet is considered inauspicious as it indicates wastage of money just like wastage of water.
Keep a water fountain in the north-east part of your home. Also, make sure that the water in fountain is always flowing and not stagnant. A flowing fountain indicates flow of energy and wealth.
If you have an aquarium at home, always place it in the north-east portion in the house. Also, aquarium should be cleaned regularly.
The main door of the house calls for distinctive decoration so that wealth and prosperity finds you. A nameplate outside your home is a must. The area outside the main door should be kept well lit with beautiful colours.
Keep a bird feeder in your yard. Keep it filled with water as well as grains as this helps attract wealth and positive energy.
The colour purple is a royal colour and wealth is symbolised by it. It is good to keep a purple-coloured plant in your home or at least have a purple-coloured pot.
The entrance: Whatever you notice first always remains in your subconscious mind. It is, therefore, important that what you first see is beautiful and refreshing. So, you may put a nice painting, fountain or something visually elevating at the place of entrance.
A baby’s signal: If you want to buy a new flat or house and do not wish to or cannot consult a Vastu or Feng Shui consultant, you may take a new born baby there. If it cries, without any external influence or cause, it means that the house/premises does not carry a positive energy field. On the other hand, if the baby remains calm and smiles, plays/laughs, it indicates that the house/premises has a good, positive vibe/aura.
The Tibetan bell: In order to improve the overall energy levels of your house, ring the Tibetan bell around the house every few days. This will empower the positive energy in and around your house.
The three-legged toad: Place a model of three-legged toad in a way that it faces the main door of your home. This ancient and mystical Feng Shui symbol, which signifies wealth and prosperity, will help you improve your savings and earnings.
Unwanted guests: If you regularly sit at a place near the main door or entrance of your home or have made a cute, little reading or praying/meditating corner, ensure that you never sit with your back towards the main door/entrance of your home. This is a trick to get rid of unwanted guests from your home. You can make them sit on such seats, where their back faces the entrance and you will see them leaving soon.
Clean the clutter: Too much of clutter in a home tends to invite or trap a lot of negative energy. So get rid of trash. Also, never keep broken or damaged instruments and items like watches, telephones, mixer, electronic items, ball pens, cassettes et al, for they carry negative energy. Keep getting rid of this junk every now and then.
Flooring: Check if any tile or an area of flooring is broken. If you find that a part of the floor is broken in your home, get it repaired or replaced as soon as possible because the negative energy it spreads may affect your relationship with your family members. If repairing is not possible, you may also put a carpet to cover the damaged area.
Name plate: Keeping a name plate, clearly written address and number of your property on the outside wall of your home has reasons beyond obvious. As per Feng Shui, this is very important, as it helps direct the opportunities towards your home.
North-east corner: This corner is the place of God and is the principal source of prosperity and promising wealth in the house. One should avoid overhead and septic tanks as well as heavy statues and holy shrines in this area of the house. It should always be kept clean.
