Pallavi Mohan’s collection is inspired by the bloom of a flower native to Mexico. By Kritika Dua
Pallavi Mohan takes a glamorous route with her collection, Dahlia that was inspired by the myriad colours and blushing tones of the flower. It is Mohan’s way of paying homage to the vibrancy and delicacy of the bloom. From delicate swirls of georgette blouses, tulle skirts and silk slip dresses along with an embroidered jacket thrown on top —the exquisite collection featured it all.
What made the collection edgier was the addition of fingerless leather gloves and beret caps.
Style is ageless and the similar sentiments were seen when little girls confidently sashayed down the ramp with big smiles wearing shimmery frocks and gowns, some of which had feather details. The look was rounded off with laser cut ballerinas. The designer called them the next generation of young star achievers and icons. Their infectious enthusiasm and youthful innocence perfectly complemented the carefree vibe of the evening wear.
Poet blouses with big bows, decorated with iridescent sequins and laser-cut petals on the delicately layered dresses which were teamed with long leather gloves gave form to the perfect ensemble for a shiny winter looks.
The first model took to ramp in a sequin embellished jacket-skirt styled with a velvet belt, elbow high navy leather gloves, black suede boots and the signature beret hat. The other signature looks from the show included sequin playsuit, embellished and velvet dresses, bomber jacket with laser cut taffeta applique work, mustard tulle skirt and pussy bow chiffon shirts.
One of the highlights of this event was a model in a resplendent teal shirt dress, with a high slit which was brimmed with sequins and was styled with a navy blue velvet belt and suede boots of the same hue. The model carried the voluminous sleeves with ease.
The collection saw comebacks of satin shirts, velvet gown, pussy bow shirts, feathers et al.
One of the models walked the ramp in a multi-layered navy blue and grey tulle gown paired with a velvet jacket with detailing in laser cut sequins along with appliqué hand work.
The showstopper wore a blush and grey gown with asymmetrical kimono sleeves with practiced ease. It had sequins oozing ombre effect which was further highlighted with bugle beads, crystals shaped like the petals of dahlia — a perfect ending with the dahlia touch.
