Producer Sanjot Kaur gives a new definition to Indian daily soaps  showing the spiteful relationship of amother and daughter, says Monu Kumar

The relationship between a mothers and a child have been glorified as the purest relationship. But Star Plus has decided to put in a spin to this relationship. Rishton Ka Chakravyuh which is an unusual spiteful story between a mother and her daughter.

The upcoming show is about a mother daughter duo who do not share love. The show depicts the collision between the mother Satrupaand her daughter Anami and the background of the show focusses on a royal industrialist family  which lives in the majestic, lal Mahal.

Mahima Makwana plays the role of 17-year-old Anami, a confident, defiant and free spirited girl.  She plays a strong character who is her own boss and makes her own decisions. “My character is of an outspoken, crazy, bindass and mastikhor girl. She starts her day planning out what all mischievous things she can do al through the day. She is also a devotee of lord Shiva and worship him. The most peculiar part are her dreadlocks which she thinks is a gift to her by Shivji,” shares Makwana. But at the same time there is a more powerful role that she plays. Her dynamic dialogues after she meets her mother and the continuous growth in her character sets her apart from the rest of the usual portrayal of the daughter figures. Makwana adds, “I am really excited to play this powerful character on the show.”

In real life the relationship she shares with her mother is  very different from what is portrayed in the serial. “I am extremely close to my mother and I respect her a lot. But on this show I have to be the complete opposite. In the show the kind of pique I have towards my mother, Satrupa is something that we do not usually witness. There is a ‘give and take’ of hatred from both sides. What’s also interesting is that lal Mahal is a bed of conspiracies where deep dark secrets erupt often,” says Makwana.

The character of Satrupa is portrayed by multi-faceted Narayani Shastri who is a strong-willed, and successful business woman. Talking about the unique relationship that she portrays on screen on this show, she says, “Usually mother and daughters share a very unique and special bond. Though this is not the case in this show. Our producer wanted to make a different TV soap, something that does not deal with a boy and a girl falling in love. This is the story of the collision of a mother and her teenage daughter. It is quite interesting to work in a show which portrays the battle of the mother-daughter duo.”

Shastri is coming back to Star Plus after 15 years post Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. “It’s like  home coming for me with this show,” says Shastri.

Apart from the unconventional storyline, the show also stars accomplished actors like Sangita Ghosh and Praneet Bhatt who play the antagonists. The show also features Anju Mahendru and Tom Alter in pivotal roles.

The show will be on-aired  from August 7 at 6 P.M. on Star Plus.
