A call for blood donors

The students of National Institute of Technology Delhi (NIT Delhi) had organised a blood donation camp under the banner of Social Reformation Cell (SRC) of NIT Delhi. SRC is a student body of the Institute which works for such social causes. The blood donation camp was organised in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society on January 15 from 10am to 5pm in the Institute campus, under the direction of Prof Ajay K Sharma, Director, NIT Delhi.

On the occasion the Director appreciated the efforts of faculty members and the office bearers of Social Reformation Cell for putting the effort in organising this blood donation camp. More than 100 units of blood were donated by the students, faculty members and staff members of the Institute through their active participation in this drive.

Such blood donation drives are the need of the hour in the times when our country is already facing an acute blood shortage of around 3 million units annually as per 2012 World Health Organisation (WHO) report. Social Reformation Cell forum of the Institute undertakes such drives from time to time to contribute towards the society.
