Didn’t want cuts: Hansal Mehta
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, whose Omerta will now release on May 4, says he knew getting through the censor board would not have been a cakewalk with the film which is inspired by the life of a real-life terrorist.
The film was to release on Friday but has now been shifted ahead.
“We knew that it wouldn't be a cakewalk with the censor board given that the film has a fair bit of violence and strong language. We didn't want cuts that would take away the essence of the film, so we had to wait.”
“The censor board chief and members of the revising committee understood how certain scenes could not be removed since they are essential for the audience to understand how a terrorist's mind works,” he added.
Meesha Shafi accuses Ali Zafar of sexual harassment
Pakistani actress-model-singer Meesha Shafi has accused fellow Pakistani artiste Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
“I have been subjected to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young or just entering the industry,” Meesha said in a note that she tweeted.
“This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children,” the note read.
She also wrote that she chose to share about the incident because “I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society.”
“It is not easy to speak out but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo,” she added in the wake of sexual harassment incidents happening across the globe.
Ali, who has also worked in Bollywood films like Dear Zindagi and Kill Dil, wrote in a Twitter post, “I categorically deny any and all claims of Ms Shafi. I intend to take this through the court of law and to address this professionally and seriously, rather than to lodge any allegations here.”
