Bhanot’s heroism still moves Sonam

Actress Sonam Kapoor feels blessed to have worked on Neerja — a biopic on Neerja Bhanot, the valiant Pan Am flight attendant who saved a number of lives when terrorists hijacked a plane to Karachi in 1986. She says her bravery continues to move her.

“Even today, the heroism and bravery of Neerja Bhanot continues to move me. It was an honour to play her and pay homage to her indelible memory, #2YearsOfNeerja,” Sonam tweeted.

The actress earned critical appreciation for her portrayal as Neerja Bhanot, and got a Special Mention for her performance at the 64th National Film Awards. Neerja was directed by Ram  Madhvani.

‘We, cast of 3 Storeys had an extensive workshop. There, we opened up so well. Renuka is such an enthusiastic actress and we all learnt so much just by observing her. She’s always excited to say how differently we can do a scene. Her energy encouraged her’ —Pulkit samrat

Actress Anna Friel was worried she'd get ‘thrown on the scrapheap’ when she turned 40 but soon learned that was not the case.“I did wonder about turning 40 and being thrown on the scrapheap. But apart from the shell changing, everything else changes in a much more positive way”, Friel said and further added, “Wisdom, compassion, empathy, values, being parents – we're learning that people want to watch people they can relate to, not just the unachievable.”

Darkest Hour to set new standards

Screenwriter Anthony McCarten thinks his latest movie Darkest Hour has set a new benchmark in prosthetics.

“Winston Churchill would plonk himself down next to me on the chairs and I would be chatting to him and you wouldn't be able to tell where Winston starts and Gary (Oldman)ends. He could be as close as I am to you and look for some hint that it was prosthetic. You couldn't. It's a new benchmark in prosthetics, I think,” McCarten said.

The film has been widely praised internationally— being nominated for Best Film at this year's Academy Awards and BAFTAs— and Carten himself is ‘very pleased’ and ‘really excited’ by the recognition.
