‘Person matters, not the clothes’

Actor Saif Ali Khan doesn't believe in having an airport look, but says he is under immense pressure to come up with one.

The actor feels one “should live in a society that looks within and not (at) what you're wearing.”

Asked if he is lazy when it comes to some activity, Saif said, “Dress up, sometimes... If it's winter, I love dressing up. But if it's hot, I'm lazy to dress up. I'm also lazy to wake up, generally. I mean I like sleeping. I can give it 12 hours. I can do a 10 to 10. But that is very rare. That's when I'm catching up on my sleep. Everyone shoots you and puts it up and then someone makes a fashion comment. Airport look! If I ever get an airport look, just come and slap me. I don't have an airport look but I'm under pressure to have it.”

‘I'm lucky to have survived my eating disorder. I started to restrict my food to a point where I was just like – God only knows how I survived. But I think for maybe a couple of years, maybe it couldn't have been that long, but I was just eating fruits and vegetables.”

Actor Akshay Kumar has acknowledged the hard work of the sweepers, garbage and sewer cleaners among many others and has called them the country's ‘cleaning soldiers’.

He yesterday shared a minute-long video on Twitter and captioned it: “A job well done which we usually forget to acknowledge...serving the country in their own way, my salute to these ‘Cleaning Soldiers Of India’.” Akshay will next be seen in Padman and Gold.

Directed by R Balki, Padman is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantha, a man who created a revolution in the field of affordable menstrual hygiene. It also features actresses Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.

Villainous Cate in Thor: Ragnarok

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett says playing the fantastical character of Hela, a female villain in Thor: Ragnarok, turned out to be a “different challenge” for her. Hela is the Goddess of Death.

“It's a different challenge because you still want to believe the character is real. And particularly with a character like Hela, who comes out of nowhere. It's not like she's appeared quietly in a couple of other films,” said Blanchett.

She added, “Some people have knowledge of her. Some people won't actually know her at all. So you have to strike a balance between those fans who do know her and those who do not. You can be mysterious for them but also give enough information of back story so that you understand why the character does what she or he does.”
