‘Why make periods tabooIJ’

Actor Sharib Hashmi, who plays the lead in the film Phullu, which is about sanitary pad awareness, says he does not have any discomfort in talking about menstruation and wonders why people become apprehensive about discussing a natural physical process.

“When the script came to me, I was just blown away. I immediately thought of doing the film. As a man, I have no discomfort to talk about periods. In fact, I wonder why people make a taboo out of it.”

The actor is playing a man who makes cheap sanitary napkins and attempts to create awareness about its usage in a small village and ends up facing flak from villagers.

Phullu is directed by Abhishek Saxena, who is campaigning against the A certificate given by CBFC for his public messaging film. He feels he has been forced to bear the brunt to accommodate another film starring an A-lister on the same subject. “When Padman releases, I’m sure that the CBFC will pitch it as an ‘education’ film, even though our film is just as much about menstruation and the taboo around it, as theirs,” he was quoted as telling a portal.

‘My films are critic-proof. I am telling them now: Go give my film minus 100 stars, why just zero. let's see how that pans out. My fans will anyway watch my film and that's my reward. It only makes them (critics) look like a bunch of idiots.’

I am not a method actor: Theroux

Actor Justin Theroux says he is not a method actor. And he says he didn’t discuss his show, The leftovers, at his home.

“I am not a method actor, I didn't take it home with me. I actually found it slightly cathartic to do this show,” Theroux said. “Strangely enough, when you spend that amount of time with cups of water falling out of your eyes, you exorcise something by the end of the day and the end of the week; you oftentimes leave feeling a little lighter, to be honest.

The leftovers season one will premiere on Star World and Star World HD on July 17, followed by season two.
