Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat tell Divyani Raghav about their gleesome romantic story in their forthcoming movie Junooniyat

Their chemistry was quite palpable in Sanam Re and within a year, the duo Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam are back with their next Junooniyat. No points for guessing that the narrative is that of a love story — Samrat in the role of  an army man named Jahan, in love with a girl from Amritsar, Suhani (Gautam).

“The conflict in the story is one of the unique points as Suhani is also from a family background and the story gets interesting because of that and we have also tried to rekindle that old school charm with shaayari,” said Gautam.

She shared that Suhani is the first character in her career that is close to her real self. “She is like me in so many ways — energetic, talkative and full of life,” she added and quickly credited Samrat for his excellent dancing skills, too, not forgetting to mention that it was tough for her to keep up. In her words, “The movie will help people explore the different shades of an army man other than their tough life.”

Samrat offered to explain the real meaning of the title. He stressed on the fact that although the movie narrates the love between a man and a woman but also the passion that an army officer feels for his country. “It is also a way how a girl harbours love and affection for her family and also for the one she loves. As far as the characters are concerned, its duty versus love, and family versus love, for both of them. And  that is the reason behind this name,” he pointed out.

During the conversation Samrat decided to share some stories about his struggling days. Did you know that he sold petro cards at petrol pumps, sometimes even in the rainIJ Or that he sat for an IT exam and was also pursuing a course in advertising before he got a breakthroughIJ He very meticulously summed up his entire struggle, “If you walk one step towards your ultimate aim, it will take 20 steps towards you. The only thing you need to do is to keep believing.”
