‘Directing Poorna was a thrill’

Rahul Bose found it thrilling to go behind the camera after 15 years for Poorna. “Directing Poorna was a thrill. It brought three of my greatest loves together — cinema, sport-adventure and women's empowerment,” Rahul, who directed Everybody Says I'm Fine! in 2001, said in a statement.

The actor says every night post shooting, he “felt the most complete sense of exhilaration.” “Poorna story couldn't be written more dramatically as fiction — how this little girl overcame every adversity to stand tallest in the world is deeply moving and eye-poppingly unbelievable at the same,” he added.

The film is a real life depiction of a poor girl named Malavath Poorna from Telangana who scaled Mount Everest when she was just 13.

Television doesn't have the same budget as a feature film. So I found means to get the same scale into it. When you see the series (Will) you won't think it inferior to a feature film. It looks like a $100-million film. The pilot was shot in 18 days | SHEKHAR KAPUR

The much talked-about trilingual featuring Kamal Haasan, Shabash Kundu (Sabash Naidu in Tamil-Telugu) will now be directed by Haasan as well. TK Rajeev Kumar, was assigned to direct the film earlier. “Rajeev has taken extremely ill. He has been diagnosed with a lyme disease. This is the reason I am now directing the film,” Haasan said.

Gigi writes a letter to Zayn Malik

Model Gigi Hadid has penned an emotional message of support for former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, who opened up to his fans about his struggles with anxiety. Malik pulled out of a performance at Capital FM's Summertime Ball here due to what he described as “the worst anxiety of my career.”

Hadid shared the note on her social media page on Sunday, praising the singer for his honesty. She wrote: “Z - I have seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans. Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you are all about, being real. Human recognises human. You made the best of the situation and have given your fans an opportunity to understand you better as a performer.”
