‘Diversity is not all skin colour’

For Freida Pinto, diversity is not about being “black or brown” or isn't just confined to what one sees on camera but is what goes behind it. The US-based Indian actress, who found fame with the Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire, says unless the debate on diversity extends beyond skin colour, it is “pointless and redundant.” Freida feels there's a need to broaden the definition of ‘diversity'. “Everybody wants to talk about diversity, but I like to broaden the definition. It is not just diversity in terms of ethnicity and skin colour, as in black or brown. It has become a redundant conversation. It is not about representing people on sexual orientation. That should never be a barrier for the kind of roles that people play,” Freida said.

Short films is an opportunity for actors, writers, directors, technicians. I did a short film because as an actor, I wanted to play a different character. Web series and short films give us this advantage. The digital market is booming| SAQIB SAlEEM

‘Never thought I’d marry after 40’

Cameron Diaz has revealed that she didn't think she would get married after turning 40.

The actress, 43, who married Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, 37, last year, said that was the “biggest thing” she has done in her 40s. “I got married last year. That was the biggest thing I've done in my 40s, and it opened me up in different ways. It's pretty awesome. I didn't think it was something I would do, and I don't know if I would have done it if I hadn't met my husband. It was a surprise,” Diaz said to a magazine.

She admitted believing in “dressing your age” though her perception of age is slightly different.

“Even when you are a certain age, it's all a matter of how you present yourself, how old your spirit is, and where you are in your life,” she said.

“Some 50-year-olds are still 35. It's about expression and what they can pull off,” Diaz added.
