‘I can’t see myself as a hero’

Actor Ranbir Kapoor says that new-age film-makers are redefining the ‘hero’ of Indian cinema. “Cinema is progressing. Directors like Anurag Kashyap, Anurag Basu, Imtiaz Ali and Ayan Mukerji are bringing new characters in. They are changing the concept of the hero of Indian cinema,” said the actor, who finds “heroism in the underhero.”

“I feel lucky that I can be part of these film-makers' characters because these are the parts which excite me,” said the actor and added, “I can't see myself as a hero. I believe that struggle is more important than the victory, in life also. So, I am more comfortable playing real and relatable characters.”
