Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks about working with the best action stars and what makes him ever competitive
How did you and Sylvester Stallone got interested in The Expendables 3IJ
For me, sly was in the movie and we have been trying for decades to do a movie together and now finally we have found the script.
We did Expendables together but I star in this movie. So that was the first one, sly was in it. Number two the director, Patrick Hughes. The director is a very talented and is very organised and has done great movies. When I met with him he really had his act together, in directing and what his vision was of the movie. And number three the producer Mark Kenton. We have worked with him when he was the head of Warner brothers and now he has his open independent production company. So we trust in him.
There is a lot of comic relief in the movie. How did that come aboutIJ
I think this one of those moments that I talked to the director and said we can really make something out of this character. There is a very intense moment where I wipe out all the guards at the top of the prison but it is nice to have a little smirk there a sense of humor.
What drew you to The Expendables seriesIJ
It is a great concept, it is the ultimate action film. It has action from the beginning to the end but also has great emotional rollercoaster ride. It has very interesting characters.
Do you think it is conflicting to have so many super stars in one projectIJ
Each one of the expendables characters has its own fan base so there is this huge audience base that wants to see them together.
Sylvester Stallone has been at the helm of The Expendable series. Where do you think his real genius as a creator lieIJ
I think that the sly is always doing an extraordinary job in creating a story.
He is very good story teller and a writer and is a very good director even though he is not directing this one. But his supervision is always there and he is also very good in the editing room. He truly knows how to tell a story and use each one’s talents in the best possible way and make every one shine.
The Expendables has been a casting utopia. Your thoughts on the same.
The casting was done very well. As I said earlier, they all have different talents and they are all stars in their own right and now to bring them together is fantastic. I think people are going to flip out cause they have seen Expendables 1 and Expendables 2 and see all the stars come together.

How is this ever increasing addition of action stars affecting the plot of the filmIJ
So the group is getting bigger and bigger in the story and the story is very interesting as to how the two groups are going either fight with each other or work with each other or what is going to happen so it basically interesting story telling.
What was the experience like to work with action stars for all over the worldIJ
I was very fortunate to know all of those guys personally and I am a big fan of all of them and I think they all appreciate each other’s work. Therefore there is respect. So it makes working together fun, when you come to the set we all come together there is an energy in the room.
With so many super stars there is bound to be competitionIJ
And also I say a little bit of competition because everyone wants to shine and it is good for the film. That also shows on the screen and it is really great when you watch them together and they really go all out with their performance, they give their everything. It’s very attractive and I think the audience will be really surprised when they see the film.
