Mody University is building a 50 crore auditorium complex at its 265 lush green, sustainable campus in lakshmangarh, Rajasthan. The complex will include a state-of the-art main auditorium, a mini auditorium, and a multi-cuisine cafeteria, and is expected to be ready in January, 2015 much before the scheduled date of March 2015.
This facility together with grandeur academic buildings, ornate dining hall, student hostels, and philosophical Shila-lekhs and work place in natural environment will make this campus unique in India. The highlights of main auditorium with a seating capacity of over 1,100 are:
Designed as a shoe-box, the enclosure imparts excellent sight-lines and acoustics for everyone.
Expansive stage designed for enabling large theatrical performances, symphony and orchestra, drama and plays and dance and music programmes.
State-of the-art audio-video system planned for movie projection, panel discussions, invited lectures, and other programmes.
Grand double-height entrance foyer with aesthetically designed scheme of sculptures, murals and paintings. Double storied glass facade separates the entrance foyer interiors with the green areas outside thus blurring the inside-outside line of separation.
Concept of ‘being one with nature’ adopted by having multiple planters within the entrance and side foyers. Foyers provided with maximum natural lighting with ample glazing and strategically located skylights.
Interesting ceiling design envisaged for the entrance foyer with a coffered ceiling with intermittent skylights. Once completed this auditorium will be one of the best auditoriums in Rajasthan. Next to the main auditorium will be a mini auditorium with a seating capacity of 300. This auditorium is designed in a fan shaped seating arrangement to enhance the intra-audience interaction, which is typically desirable in seminars, question-answer sessions and similar events. Use of thrust stage concept will facilitate closer interaction between the stage occupants and the audience.
This arrangement works well for lectures, presentations, placement briefings, seminars and similar activities.
