GHAZIABAD: A blast at the Vasundhara police outpost in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram area on Friday night left a food delivery executive injured prompting authorities to rush the Anti-Terrorist Squad and bomb disposal teams to the site, police said on Saturday.
The blast occurred around 9 pm, shattering two window panes and cracking a wall of the police outpost. At the time of the incident, a Sub-Inspector and a delivery executive who had arrived to deliver an order were present at the premises. The delivery executive sustained minor injuries after being struck by shattered glass and was taken for medical treatment.
Teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Bomb Disposal Squad and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the spot soon after the incident. Forensic experts collected samples from the site and sent them to a laboratory in Agra for further examination.
Meanwhile, police are verifying a social media post by an organisation identifying itself as "Tehrik Ul Mujahideen", which has reportedly claimed responsibility for the explosion. Officials have said that the authenticity of the claim is being examined.
Police are checking CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify those involved and establish the sequence of events.
"All angles are being investigated," a senior police officer said, though an official police statement was still awaited.
The area around the outpost has been fenced off as investigators continue to gather evidence. The nature and motive behind the explosion remains unclear.
