Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation from the iconic Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day, unveiled a landmark employment initiative — the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana. Aimed at boosting job creation and supporting first-time job seekers, the scheme promises a one-time incentive of ?15,000 from the Central government to individuals securing their first job in the private sector.

The ambitious ?1 lakh crore programme is designed to stimulate both hiring and economic growth by encouraging companies to recruit fresh talent while directly easing the transition for young people entering the workforce. Effective immediately, the scheme is expected to benefit over 3.5 crore citizens, marking it as one of the largest direct employment support initiatives in India’s history.

PM Modi, in his address, emphasised that the scheme is part of a broader vision of creating a “Viksit Bharat” — a developed India — where economic growth is inclusive and youth aspirations find tangible opportunities. He highlighted that first-time job seekers often face challenges in meeting initial expenses and settling into their roles; this financial support is aimed at reducing that burden.

The Prime Minister also noted that the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana will act as a catalyst for private sector participation in nation-building. By offering a government-backed incentive, the initiative is expected to generate momentum in industries ranging from manufacturing to services, ensuring that economic benefits reach every corner of the country.

Calling upon employers and industry bodies to make full use of the scheme, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering India’s youth, driving skill development, and creating a robust job market. The announcement was met with widespread applause, symbolising hope for millions seeking a foothold in India’s dynamic economy.
