A significant milestone has been achieved in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project with the completion of a 45-metre-long segmental bridge over the Kalupur flyover in Ahmedabad, marking steady progress in one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure developments.

The newly completed structure is part of the high-speed rail corridor being implemented by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The bridge has been constructed using the segmental launching method to ensure precision and minimal disruption to existing road and rail traffic in the busy Kalupur area.

Officials said the Kalupur stretch is one of the most technically challenging sections of the Ahmedabad alignment due to dense urban infrastructure, including road flyovers, railway lines, and metro connectivity. Special engineering techniques have been adopted to ensure the bullet train viaduct passes safely over existing structures without affecting ongoing traffic movement.

The 45-metre segmental bridge adds to a growing list of completed civil structures in Gujarat under the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, where multiple viaducts, steel bridges, and river crossings have already been finished or are in advanced stages of construction.

According to project updates, the bullet train corridor has been witnessing rapid progress across key sections in Gujarat, with engineers deploying advanced construction techniques such as span-by-span launching and pre-cast segmental assembly to accelerate work.

Once completed, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two major cities while boosting economic connectivity across Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Authorities continue to focus on completing complex urban stretches like Kalupur, where multiple transport systems intersect, requiring highly precise engineering and coordinated execution.
