Failing to learn that it is time to shun the dynasty politics, a section of Congress top leaders are still of the opinion that the country’s grand old party should be synonymous to RsGandhi’ family.
With party’s second in command in limbo from his “home grown” Parliamentary constituency Amethi, surprisingly, clamour for bringing Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Vadra in the mainstream has begun.
As the counting of votes continues indicating complete rout of the Congress from the country, top Congress figures, hundreds of disappointed Congress workers have started chanting the slogan “Bring Priyanka to save the nation”; Amethi Ki Danka, Priyanka.
A top leader cited that once former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi has confided him that only Priyanka could be his real heir and keep intact the party and thus she has to be groomed in that manner. Early in the day, party workers conducted prayers outside the Congress HQ and performed a 'havan' for party's victory. Posters reading “Please God make Rahul Gandhi PM” and “Please God help make Sonia Gandhi's government” were also seen on the spot.
"Environments change very quickly. Congress is a great party. We have a long tradition. We have fought this election well. We have to introspect. We have some 10 12 things of correction to do. look and see how these things change very quickly. Wait for a while. Do those corrections and you will see Congress coming back with blazing guns. We have been in power for ten years. Surely we can sit in the Opposition and play the role of a responsible Opposition but we have to do those corrections and we have to look positive," is the Congress Spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi’s fisrt reaction when the writing on the wall emerged clear.
