The ruling National Conference candidates seeking reelection in three parliamentary constituencies in Kashmir have failed to command lead as People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates are holding sway in every round of counting so far.

The most stunning trends are coming from Srinagar constituency where NC President Dr farooq Abdullah is trailing by 14000 votes against his PDP rival Tariq Hameed Qarra. Interestingly, the bankable pockets of NC like Kangan and Ganderbal have rejected the ruling party.

In Anantnag, after the sixth round of counting, PDP candidate and party president Mehbooba Mufti was ahead of her NC rival Mehboob Beigh by a margin of 38,000 votes.

Mehbooba got 121973 votes while Beg polled 81930 votes. Observers say that the margin is insurmountable for the NC candidate as the constitnecy polled 26 per cent votes.

In Baramulla, the PDP’s Muzaffar Beigh is ahead of his rival Sharifuddin Shariq by a margin of 11478 votes.

The surprising trend is coming from ladakh constituency where independent candidate Agha Kazin Sabri is leading with a lean margin. He is followed by Ghulam Raza while the BJP’s Thupstan Chewang has improved his statistics and reached third position.
