lIVE: India sees the world as one big family, says Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that it is a matter of great pride that I am addressing the UN General Assembly as the Prime Minister for the first time.

India sees the world as one big family. We believe in multilateralism. I am prepared to engage in a serious bilateral dialogue with Pakistan in a peaceful atmosphere, without the shadow of terrorism, says Modi.

Modi says raising issues in UN is not the way to make progress towards resolving issues between our two countries. Terrorism is taking new shape and new name. No country, big or small, in the north or the south, east or west, is free from its threat.

It is important to expand the UN Security Council.  We should think why despite the UN, we are making so many 'G' forums: PM.

PM says we should put aside our differences and mount a concerted effort to combat terrorism. I urge you to adopt the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism. Modi calls for adopting an International Yoga Day.

When we craft agreements on international trade we should accommodate each other's concerns and interests, says Modi.
