The initial trends in four parliamentary constituencies in Kashmir including ladakh indicate doom for ruling National Conference as its prestigious candidate Dr Farooq Abdullah is trailing in Srinagar constituency by 10,000 votes. The Opposition people’s Democratic Party is leading in three constituencies while Congress rebel Ghulam Raza fighting as independent candidate is leading in mountainous ladakh constituency.

At the culmination of fifth round of counting at SKICC at the banks of Dal lake here, PDP’s Tariq Hameed Qarra was leading with a margin of 10,087 votes over his nearest rival and Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

If Abdullah looses from Srinagar, it would be a death knell to ruling NC that faces severe anti-incumbency throughout the State. The Srinagar constituency was considered as the strongest fort of the NC.

The PDP President Mehbooba Mufti is leading in her pocket borough of south Kashmir against the sitting NC MP Mehbbob Beigh by a margin of 14157 votes. Mehbooba has polled 43762 votes while Beigh’s count stood at 29605 at the end of fifth round.

In Baramulla, PDP’s Muzaffar Hussain Beg is leading with a margin of 1079 votes. Beg has got 26128 votes while his nearest rival Sharifuddin Shariq of NC, who is seeking re-election has got 25049 votes.

The surprising trend is coming from ladakh constituency where independent candidate Gulam Raza is leading with a lean margin. Raza, a Congress rebel has got 18369 votes against his rival.
