The CPI(M), which has opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, has decided to activate its party cadres here for launching an agitation in favour of a unified state after preparing an action plan on the same.
The district unit functionaries met here last night, and decided to keep an eye on the political strategies of other parties before preparing the action plan. However, the party has decided to hold public meetings at all constituency head quarters in the district and to enlighten people on issues, arising out of the state division.
The party felt that the elected public representatives should raise their voice in the Parliament and Assembly without resigning from their posts to safeguard the interests of the unified state. If at all they wanted to resign “they must resign for their respective parties” .
District Secretary Narayana told PTI that the party has decided not to disturb the ongoing agitation against the state bifurcation in Rayalaseema and Andhra, which emanated from public anguish. He also said that the party is prepared to start agitation in favour of united Andhra Pradesh, shortly either on its own or by joining hands with like minded parties.
