Five months after the desert State catapulted Vasundhara Raje Scindia to power with a landslide win in the Assembly elections, it’s the Modi wave that is seeing the BJP blanking out the Congress in all the 25 lok Sabha seats. At 12.30 pm, the trends show the BJP looking set to accomplish its ‘Mission 25’ target with the Congress getting wiped out. 25-0 it is for the BJP, the trends project the electoral showing in Rajasthan.
All the five Central Ministers, including two close to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, from Rajasthan are trailing. Union Minister of State for Defence and Youth Affairs and Sports Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, Union Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Union Housing and Urban Alleviation Minister Girija Vyas, Union Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena and Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Sachin Pilot – all seem headed for a defeat. Former Union Minister and State Congress chief CP Joshi is yet another of the party heavyweights trailing.
BJP’s old warhorse-turned-rebel Jaswant Singh, who was said to be on a strong wicket, too is trailing in Barmer while Congress’ candidate from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur Md Azharuddin doesn’t look like having the prospect of creating history by becoming the first Muslim in last two decades to enter the lok Sabha from Rajasthan.
