The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday demanded re-polling at all 214 booths under Bhubaneswar North Assembly constituency claiming that 17 per cent of the total voters were deprived from voting since their names were not in the voters’ list.
“Nearly 17 per cent voters could not exercise their franchise as their names were not in the voters’ list. In many cases it was seen that husband and wife cast their votes at two different polling booths though they are residing at a single house,” alleged AAP leader Swarna Patnaik.
She further added that voters were not provided any information or voter chirikutis for which most of the voters went back home without casting votes. Besides, some booths were shifted to locations far from voters’ villages under the constituency, she alleged and said, “Hence, we urged the ECI through the CEO to ensure re-polling at all the polling booths soon.”
