Hyderabad: Telangana Police is set to expand its FitCop programme to monitor and record the health parameters of 90,000 police personnel across all units and wings in the state, Director-General of Police (DGP) C V Anand said.
The app, launched in 2022, was designed to promote the health and well-being of police personnel through structured health screenings, automated follow-ups and evidence-based health education.
The DGP held a meeting with app developers, the police technical team and senior officers to review the health parameters and additional features required in the application.
“We are on the verge of expanding the FitCop programme, a dedicated application to monitor and improve the health and well-being of police personnel, across all units and wings of Telangana Police,” Anand said in a statement.
The DGP said a sponsor had agreed to fund the entire programme for the next 10 years. The meeting also discussed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an action plan to roll out the expanded programme within 40 to 45 days.
“The first phase will focus on screening BMI, height, weight, blood pressure, and diabetes, followed by targeted guidance and monitoring of high-risk personnel by doctors calling from the call centre. This welfare initiative will also support mental health, personalised diet and exercise recommendations, and overall wellness,” Anand said.
He said the initiative was aimed at improving the health and well-being of police personnel, besides enhancing their work efficiency through regular monitoring and medical guidance.
