Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday proposed increasing Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for employees, artisans and pensioners of state-run power utilities from 19.272 per cent to 21.815 per cent.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has directed the chairmen and managing directors (CMDs) of the power utilities to prepare proposals for a hike of 2.543 percentage points, to be effective from July 1, 2026.
The proposed hike will impose an additional financial burden of Rs 14.63 crore per month on the state government.
The DA and DR are revised every six months, in January and July, based on changes in the All India Consumer Price Index released by the Labour Bureau under the Ministry of Labour.
The DA and DR hike benefits 71,360 people across four power utilities in the state. Of the total beneficiaries, 9,194 are from Telangana Transmission Corporation (TGTRANSCO), including 3,081 employees, 3,644 artisans and 2,469 pensioners.
Similarly, 14,167 beneficiaries are from Telangana Generation Corporation (TGGENCO), comprising 7,197 employees, 3,544 artisans and 3,426 pensioners.
The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) accounts for the highest number of beneficiaries at 28,481, including 11,719 employees, 8,493 artisans and 8,269 pensioners.
Meanwhile, 19,518 beneficiaries are from the Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL), comprising 9,936 employees, 3,435 artisans and 6,147 pensioners.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was committed to the welfare of employees, artisans and pensioners working in the power sector.
He said the directions to increase DA and DR were issued as part of the government's efforts to safeguard the interests and financial well-being of power utility personnel.
