Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Monday that people across the country are determined to send Prime Minister Narendra Modi home and make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister.

Speaking at the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Day, Uttam said a silent revolution is sweeping the country under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, with people increasingly seeking an alternative to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Telangana Congress party organises the commemoration day every year on October 19 to honour former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s 1990 Sadbhavana Yatra, which promoted peace, communal harmony, national unity, and brotherhood.

Reddy said Rahul Gandhi had provided effective leadership to the Congress through challenging political circumstances as well as favourable periods.

“There is growing public support for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, reflecting a wider desire for political change in the country. The Congress workers need to stand firmly behind Rahul Gandhi in the struggle to defeat the BJP. We have to work hard to make Rahul Gandhi as next Prime Minister and retain power in Telangana,” the minister said.

Emphasising the importance of party organisation, the minister said the Congress government in Telangana must give greater recognition to grassroots workers who had endured years of hardship during the previous BRS regime. “Their perseverance, sacrifices and sustained efforts had played a crucial role in the Congress returning to power in Telangana, and their contributions should not be forgotten,” he said.

He urged Telangana ministers, MPs, MLCs and MLAs to prioritise important party programmes and demonstrate their commitment to the organisation and its cadre.

The minister said that greater participation by ministers and elected representatives in party programmes would help recognise grassroots workers and strengthen the organisation.
