Hyderabad: A woman from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, who was stranded in Muscat after allegedly being cheated by a recruitment agent, returned to India following the intervention of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR).
Tuppudu Lakshmi, wife of Venkatappa and a resident of Gokafasalwad village in Kodangal constituency, met KTR at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday and thanked him for helping her return to India.
Lakshmi had travelled to Muscat on February 27 in search of employment to support her family. However, she was allegedly assigned work different from what the recruitment agent had promised. Her employer reportedly confiscated her passport and refused to allow her to return to India.
The agent who had arranged her travel allegedly stopped responding to her calls and demanded Rs 2 lakh to facilitate her return. With her Wi-Fi and SIM card disconnected, Lakshmi managed to contact her son Raju using a neighbour’s internet connection and informed him of her situation.
Raju approached KTR on September 29 and sought his assistance in bringing his mother back to India.
According to the account, KTR assured Raju that he would help secure Lakshmi’s passport and facilitate her return within a month. He subsequently wrote to the officials concerned, following which Lakshmi returned to India.
After reuniting with her family, Lakshmi met KTR at Telangana Bhavan and expressed her gratitude.
“KTR Anna promised my son that he would bring me back within a month. He kept his word and brought me home. I can never forget what he has done for me and my family. My heartfelt thanks to KTR Anna,” Lakshmi said.
