Hyderabad: A 36-year-old software engineer has died of a heart attack after participating in a marathon in Hyderabad.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Kommineni Gopi, a resident of Alkapuri Colony in Manikonda, Hyderabad, who participated in the 8th edition of Hyderabad Hi-Tech Full Marathon organised by NEB Sports at Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday morning.
After completing the marathon and receiving his medal, Gopi suddenly collapsed while heading to have breakfast, the police said.
The police said the organising team immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before shifting him to a private hospital in Gachibowli. However, doctors who examined him declared him dead on arrival.
Inspector Saidulu said preliminary investigations suggested that Gopi had died of a heart attack.
The deceased is survived by his wife and three-year-old son.
