Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday criticised the Congress government in Telangana over its alleged failure to address the growing water and agricultural crises, and expressed confidence that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) would return to power in the state.

In a statement, KTR alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide adequate electricity to farmers and drinking water to people, pushing the agricultural sector into a crisis.

He claimed that people from all sections of society were dissatisfied with the Congress government and were eagerly waiting for the next elections to bring KCR back to power.

"The Congress party came to power through false propaganda and misleading promises. It has betrayed all sections of society and failed to deliver effective governance," KTR alleged.

Referring to the prevailing water situation, KTR alleged that the state government had ignored warnings about the impact of El Niño despite being alerted 10 months in advance.

He said neighbouring states had taken precautionary measures and filled their reservoirs, while the Telangana government had failed to utilise available water resources effectively.

KTR further alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy deliberately avoided operating the Kaleshwaram project pumps because he feared that KCR would receive credit for the project.

He also accused Congress leaders of spreading false propaganda about the Medigadda barrage and alleged that Rahul Gandhi had been brought to the site to mislead people about its condition.

Criticising both Congress and the BJP, KTR alleged that the two parties were working together in Telangana and were more interested in attacking BRS leaders than protecting the state's interests.

"Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana are working together. Instead of fighting for the state's interests, they are only interested in criticising KCR and KTR," he said in the statement.

KTR predicted that KCR would once again emerge as a key political figure at the national level, claiming that non-Congress and non-BJP parties would play a significant role in the country's political future.

He said KCR had proposed a non-Congress, non-BJP political alternative four years ago, but many political leaders had failed to understand its importance.

KTR also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the party had failed to provide an effective alternative to the BJP at the national level.

Referring to the upcoming local body elections, KTR challenged the Congress government to conduct MPTC, ZPTC and municipal corporation elections, claiming that the ruling party lacked the confidence to face voters.

He expressed confidence that the BRS would secure a decisive victory in municipal corporation elections whenever they were held.

KTR also urged party workers to strengthen their organisational activities ahead of the graduates' constituency elections, starting with voter registration.

He accused Congress of relying on money power in the elections and alleged that the party had deceived students, unemployed youth and graduates through promises made under its Youth Declaration.

"The youth and graduates will certainly teach Congress a lesson in the upcoming elections," KTR said.
