Youths in R&D will make India global guru: Rupani

Published on:

Indian youth engaged in Research and Development (R&D) will provide demographic dividend to help New India-2022 and contribute the nation to become the global guru, said Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at the first convocation ceremony of Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management (IITRAM) on Saturday.

Urging the students to apply their education and knowledge in nation building, Rupani said that the modern education system would help India attain sustainable growth and ultimate prosperity. The Chief Minister further said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Gujarat CM he had established specialty universities in Rakshashakti (defence), Forensic Science, Organic, Marine and Petroleum to revive the ancient seats of learning like Takshashila, Nalanda and Vallabhi.

He said that the institute’s name, IITRAM, reminds him of the Rameshwaram Setu as the best infrastructure built during lord Ram’s time as part of ‘Ramrajya’ — the ideal Government envisaged in ancient Indian literature.

Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat’s education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said that IITRAM was established with the objective of keeping the youth abreast with science and technology, which seems to be realized now. ISRO Ahmedabad Director Tapan Mishra said that infrastructure indicates a nation’s state of development as he wished the IITRAM students would combine science and technology to apply in the field of infrastructure development. Out of 25 students of Civil Engineering (CE) and 27 students of Electrical Engineering (EE), five were awarded medals.
