With the UP Police all set to ensure full-proof security to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to lucknow on International Yoga Day on June 21, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations for the event on Saturday.
Reviewing preparations with senior officers at Shastri Bhawan in lucknow, Yogi directed that preparations be complete by June 19 as the PM is scheduled to land in lucknow the next day.
Yogi asked officers to ensure cleanliness in the State capital, fix lED Bulbs at all public places, remove illegal hoardings and put up cut-outs of Yoga postures at all important crossings.
The CM also directed that a rehearsal of the event be organised at Rama Bai Ambedkar Maidan so that shortcomings if any could be checked on time and necessary changes effected. Yogi said that Minister in-charge of districts would also participate in the event organised in their respective districts, while MlAs, MPs would attend the function in respective Constituencies.
Reminding officials that besides the PM, several other dignitaries and media persons were to be present at the event, Yogi told them to ensure that all preparations are completed on time. He warned that any laxity during the celebrations will be met with stern action against the errants. He said that all participants be given identity cards to avoid confusion.
Yogi said that besides Ramabai Park, Yoga programme will be also organised at 11 other prominent parks of the city and hence a nodal officer for each venue be appointed. Besides cleaning the venue, officials were asked to ensure proper sanitation, drinking water, emergency medical services, fire brigades, and power besides extending security.
The CM stressed that women constables and officers be deputed for the safety of women participants at the venue. He also directed that transportation be facilitated to those reaching the venue early in the morning and buses be arranged from late night hours after checking the fitness of drivers and vehicles to avoid untoward incidents.
About 55,000 forms to participants were made available by the district administration which would install lED screens at all venues and ensure live telecast of the programme on Doordarshan.
Meanwhile, keeping in mind serious security lapses during Yogi’s visit to lucknow University campus and also during PM’s visit to Varanasi, top cops brainstormed to draw full-proof security for the two-day visit of Prime Minister.
Besides alerting Intelligence agencies, DGP Sulkhan Singh also directed police officials to ensure adequate deployment particularly at all entry points throughout the route to be used by the VVIP motorcades.
Sources said that step was being taken as some students union leaders, agitated with recent suspension of their colleagues who showed black flag to the CM during his lU campus visit, have planned to intercept Modi’s motorcade during his visit.
The agitators have decided not only to wave black flags at Modi but also to pressure the administration into revoking the suspension and withdraw cases or be ready to face a more fierce stir during the PM’s visit.
